Professor Giulio Basoccu of Rome is a specialist in the removal of tattoos with NdiYAG Q-Switched lasers, the most advanced method for the elimination of tattoos.

Tattoo Removal with Q-Switched Laser

This particular laser beam, through a gradual action to superficialise colored pigments, favours the elimination by macrophage. On black tattoos the treatment has the maximum effectiveness, while it decreases progressively for tattoos made with light colors, such as green and red. The stroke and depth of the ink in the skin also affects the degree of removal. The application of a local anaesthetic cream will serve to counteract the slight sensation of discomfort felt during treatment.

How long does it take to get rid of a tattoo?

The sessions are held every 3 or 4 weeks and after each meeting an occlusive dressing with cream is applied, which must be worn for at least three days. A cycle is usually made up of 6 to 8 sessions. If the patient intends to be tattooed again in the same area, after the second session it would be possible to make the cover up as the tattoo would have already lost the tone necessary to allow coverage.
